Babbo

Monday was David's birthday. He arrived home to a pile of gifts, including a new fall jacket!

With all my 30th Birthday fuss, I wanted to make sure David had as much special attention on his day.

We headed to the west village under the guise of eating at one of our favourite Indian places, ( im sure the gig was up when David asked why I was so over dressed) I got the cab to pull up on the other side of the village, allowing us to wander over to Waverly place.

David got such a surprise when I announced we were eating at Babbo!

Babbo is the baby of Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich and is known as THE best Italian in New York.

It is notoriously hard to get into but worth the wait. Reservations are taken one month to the day in advance, from 10am -10.30am only. Once reserved you have to call 3 days prior to your date between 9am -12pm to reconfirm.

Needlesssay, this is a very special place to dine. Everything is imported from Italy, from the pasta flour, salt, tomatoes, tablecloths, olive oil, cheese and wine.

We enjoyed the 8 course traditional tasting menu, that included antipasto & cured meats, pappardelle with white truffles, duck tortelli with sage, grilled hanger steak, a selection of cheese with honey & figs, and dolce. For the hell of it, we did the matching wine pairing, and just about needed be rolled home - it was a gastronomic delight!
Happy Birthday Bubb!

Happy Halloween

Saturday was Halloween, so we headed to a party in Irvington hosted by Sonia & Michael, fellow Aussies we met thru Mick and Erin.

To be fair Halloween is not really our bag, but we got dressed up regardless for a laugh.

Can you guess? We are White Trash - hahaha

Sonia had gone all out with the food, and even made home-made sausage rolls!! These are a popular aussie party food that generated a lot of excitement, it was Big Kev people!

Alex and Erin made light work of these, whilst David hung out with the boys.

David went as a Weather Reporter and Miles sported the weather signs, too cute!

Mick & Erin in Town

Late last week, Mick Erin and the boys arrived in NYC for a visit.

It was fabulous to see them, so we headed to the Mandarin Oriental to celebrate with a cocktail!

We love seeing our favorite boys ............

...........and I think they loved seeing us!

3-0

On Thursday, I turned 30.

I was off to a rocky star after discovering I had lost my phone, so apologies to anyone who sent birthday messages and got no response.

However the day progressed into one of the most special and indulgent days ever!
Had I know I was going to be so completely spoilt I would have stop stressing weeks ago :)

I was inundated with flowers, emails, gifts, phone calls, surprises and champagne before being whisked of to dinner at Del Posto in the Meatpacking.

It was a mix of fabulous food, presents, drinks, surprises, more food, more surprises and more presents!

At the end of the evening I declared " Is that it bubb? I can't cope with any more surprises or opening any more presents!!"

It's tough to be me!

Big thanks to all those who helped make the day so special - mmmwah!

Funny

This week I stumbled across a website that I can't help but share.

It is clever, original and hysterically funny - have a laugh on me!
