NBC Studio Tour

As part of Matthews connections at CNBC we invited on a private tour of the NBC studios at Rockefeller Centre.

This is the location of the studios for the national news, Saturday Night Live, Jay Leno Show, Jimmy Fallon Live and 30 Rock. It was a great behind-the-scenes glimpse!

Gus' Place & Temple Bar

Saturday proved to be rather a lazy day, involving a much needed sleep-in and Matthew moving the remainder of his gear to our pace.

It was them off to the West Village for a wander around the shops and sights before grabbing a few drinks at the Barrow Street Ale House. It was then off to Gus' Place, a local Greek restaurant that had fluffy bread, tasty dips and a variety of small plates - ideal for sharing!

Afterwards, it was on to Noho for a nightcap at the uber cool Temple Bar, as lead and directed by David!

Friday saw the arrival of my cousin Matthew from Australia!

He had spent a week working as the business reporter in the New York office of CNBC, and was ready to kick his heels up. We headed to the East Village for some Mexican fun via 2 pitchers of blood orange margaritas! Ole!

A Day at Princeton

On Saturday we made a day trip up to Princeton University. It is about an hour train ride from NYC and set in the gorgeous country side of New Jersey.

Princeton was the location where the movie a "Beautiful Mind" was filmed and where Albert Einstein taught. Most importantly, David's Grandfather taught mathematics at the Institute for Advanced Study and the whole family lived in Princeton for several years.

In fact, Dana remembers meeting Albert Einstein on the campus when he was a young boy!

We also caught up with one of Dana's old college friends who is an architect and manages all the new projects for the University.

Needlesstosay an architecture tour was in order, and we felt like VIP's being driven around the campus on a golf cart!

Babysitting Duties

With low key weekends in full force, we were very happy to look after David and Miles on Saturday evening.

Mick and Erin were up for a night in the city and some quality time together.

We took the boys to our local park complete with jungle gym and view of the Hudson River - only in New York!

After a few chilly hours, it was time to head indoors! Brrr

Once home we enjoyed home made pizzas courtesy of David, then some popcorn and a movie. It was then onto "story time" and "quiet time" on the bed before the sound of silence! And all before 8pm!

It was then time for Alex and David to relax with a wine and movie, before Mick and Erin came to collect the boys in the wee hours of the morning.................ok ok it was only 10.30pm but it was late enough!

Apartment Update

It has been a few quiet but busy weeks. With the influx of guests coming to a halt we have spent the last few weekends catching up on household chores and unpacking the remainder of our boxes. During this time I have manage to arrange and re-arrange both the kitchen and linen closest on multiple occasions!

The arrival of the cabinet proved to be a fantastic storage unit and we are happy to have all our china and crystal out on display.






















As you can see we are packed to the hilt! It is just down to the last few boxes of books/cds/dvs to be unpacked once we make a decision over the media unit.

Happy Birthday David

Sunday was my fabulous hubby's birthday!

After a morning full of present opening and phone calls we finally made it out the door and enjoyed a cheese-filled brunch at Artisanal! It was then out and about for some shopping and a movie before heading home to relax.

It was then off to the infamous "Brick Lane Curry House" in the East Village that boast the hotest curry in all of NYC, the chef cooks it with a gas mask on.

Whilst we did not part take in the "Curry Challenge" we did enjoy some of the best Indian we have had since moving to the US. It was then home for an early night with a belly full of naan.
