Le Cirque

Monday night we had dinner at Le Cirque, one of the best places to eat in NYC.

Everything at Le Cirque is elegantly over the top, from the "big top" style umbrellas that float from the ceiling to the 27 foot glass wine tower, magical!

The vibe is distinctly cultural with amazing food and glamorous artwork to match.

We feasted on truffle risotto and lamb terrain to start, followed by filet mignon and pistachio crusted roast lamb. Rounded off with chocolate fondant and pana cotta, what a delight!

One of the evenings highlights was celeb spotting Jennifer Garner walking thru the restaurant and David's comment about not adhering to the "no jeans " dress policy!

With all the hype, I was impressed Le Cirque did not disappoint.

"Give that chair some oomph!"

"Our orange chair looks bored!" I declared on Sunday.

So off we went in search of throw rugs and pillows. The adventure was a successful one, with a tiny red lobster making its new home on our chair.

We bought matching multiple pillows for the couch, but David refused to move or be photographed so we just have one picture.

Happy Birthday Victoria

Saturday was Victoria's Birthday! It was also the day she moved in down the hall from us, literally she is in the same building 3 doors down! So it was a busy day of unpacking boxes and assembling the apartment.

Luckily her parents were on hand to assist and in the early evening we headed out for dinner to celebrate.

Cheers to Miss V on her special day!

The Dancing Prawn

Friday night we caught up with Rachel, Ritchie and the adorable Belles for dinner at Redeye Grill.

Apparently it is "world famous" for it's dancing shrimp, however I hardly consider a skewered prawn spiked into a pineapple "dancing". Rachel's impression was far more entertaining.

Upon discovery that the shrimp no longer danced.

Ridiculous and festive all at the same time.

New York Times

One of the quintessential summer time things to do in NYC is cocktails at the Peninsula.

Luckily this is right next door to my work, and one afternoon my boss treated to me to champagne at Salon Ning located on the roof terrace.

As we sat sweltering in 92F/38C, with beads of sweat were rolling down our face we were approached by a photographer. Turns out the New York Times was doing an upcoming feature on rooftop bars and thus followed an inpromptu photshoot!

Whilst our sweaty faces did not make the article (shock horror) you can see us in the background.........

(we are the 2 tiny heads at the back of the bar, behind the man in the orange shirt, I suggested you zoom!)

................AND we were treated to gift vouchers at the Peninsula Spa for being such good sports!

The one and only time being sweaty has worked in my favor!

Javier's

For my final day in California we had lunch at Javier's Cantina at Crystal Cove overlooking the beach.

Despite the weather not being so nice, it was lovely to catch up with Annie, Marilyn and Ann before I jetted back to NYC.

The food was amazing and the setting tres chic, so I highly recommend a visit.

All the girls!

Adios California!

Cards Night

During my visit, I joined Candy and the ladies from the Golf Club in their weekly Card night. Very civilized!

David and I are huge card players but are often restricted as most games have a 3 player requirement. So I happily put forth my $5 (lets make it interesting) and joined in the fun!

As it turns out, playing infrequently has treated me well as I won my table and took home a cash prize - la!

A shout out to Debbie for hosting, all the ladies who joined in the fun.......I apologize that I came, I played and I took your money!
