Frivoli & Trivoli

Last weekend I headed to California for work and play. It was a great opportunity too spend some time with my favorite mother-in-law sans husband!

For a night out we headed to the Pageant of the Master that is held annually in Laguna. It is an outdoor event set amongst the hills in a giant amphitheatre. It is all things art and pageantry, with one of the highlights is the "Living Picture" show.

This is where characters dress in costume and play out a famous scene in a painting before the lights black out, and then come back on to reveal the famous scene of the paining. If that makes sense?

All accompanied by music, signing and looking thru a binocular!

It was very interesting indeed. On top of all this they have an art and crafts show outside the theatre with a live swing band, so there was much to see and do!

Prior to the show we ate dinner at the fancy Tivoli Terrace - ohh la la!
