With trains running every 20 mins, we arrived at the train station only to miss our scheduled train due to the slow moving ticket queue. Unfortunately we discovered that due to a train strike the trains were only running every HOUR not every 20 mins. Disgruntled we waited at the train station for another hour, only to be informed the train would be delayed. When we finally arrived in Monte Carlo, we decide to check the retiring schedule only to be informed that the train we just caught was in fact the last train of the day back to Nice!
For the icing on the cake, the buses had stopped running and the only alternative was a private car costing over 100 EURO.
Furious and left with no options we got back on the train to Nice. There were some stern words and pointed fingers to the French fool who sold us our tickets, and had managed to waste over 3 hours of our time.
Exhausted we decide to hit a fancy restaurant we had seen early in the day, only to discover that it was closed! ARGH!!! Finally we need up at a cute restaurant in Old Nice and fuelled by much wine we finally got our fun evening! The hostess who was very sympathetic to our dilemma bought us a complimentary round of Lemoncello..........

Still not a fan.

The evening turned out to be a right kerfuffle, but at least we were together, at least there was wine and at least we were in France!
