Weekend in London

After a string of visitors and playing hostess since we arrived in NYC, it was time for a much needed break! We headed to London to visit Jay and Erica who moved there back in June, it was wonderful seeing them and being the guest for once!

We arrived bright and early on Saturday morning and headed straight to to their palace to drop our bags and grab some brunch at the Chelsea Gardens.

The weather was absolutely perfect for sitting outside!

It was then onto Buckingham Palace and a tour of the Mews.

The Royal Stables were very interesting and we saw all the carriages and horses used for Royal Events. Below is the Australian State Coach made especially in Australia in celebrations for the Bi-Centenary in 1988 when the Queen visited. It is one of the only carriages that requires 6 horses instead of 4 - proof that Australian's do love a bit of pomp & circus!

However, the most impressive carriage of all was the Queen Alexandra Coach, and not surprising as this was the Queen I was named after!


This coach is the Official transport when the Crown Jewels are moved from the Tower of London to Buckingham Palace, and it is specially designed to showcase the jewels.
